running workouts playlists

Running workout playlists are a great way to keep yourself inspired during those long workouts. If you're in training for a marathon, for example, you already know that the longer the distance, the easier it is to become bored along the way. Music and good running workout playlists can help you stay interested in your workout, moving at a good pace, as well as focused on your goals. Here are some things to keep in mind when making your next running mix.

Pick music that you like to listen to

Even if you're only running for a half an hour, music can mean the difference between that thirty minutes lasting forever and speeding right along. Running workout playlists should be filled with music that you already like and would like to listen to again and again. Go through your music collection to see what kinds of songs you might want to run along to and then write down the names of the specific songs as a reference. Chances are good that you will have more songs than will fill one CD or music player, so you will want to keep a record for subsequent mixes.

Pick faster music

When you want to improve your running times and performance, running workouts playlists should include faster tempo songs that will keep your feet moving. Try to choose songs from the dance, pop, and rock genres, for example. There are also many country, rap, and R&B songs that might work as well. It will also help you to listen to the songs that you chose in the first step to see if they are faster tempo before you make your final running mix.

Create a workout mix

A good way to create running workouts playlists is to focus on the usual rhythm of your workout – a slow warmup, a moderate pace, some faster running spurts, then a slower tempo as you cool down. Choose songs that fit into this rhythm and you will simply just have to run as the rhythm dictates. You can also create various lengths of mixes so that you're not always looking at your watch as you run.

Running workouts playlists are a great way to make yourself feel inspired to run every day. And while you might not always run as fast as those runners did in "Chariots of Fire," it's hard to dispute how good you feel when you play that music at the end of a workout.
